I don't think the delay to Google Earth has anything at all to do with 3Dconnexion. When it comes to third-party application support, 3Dconnexion have been very consistent in their responses on this forum: if you want application X to support the SpaceNavigator, contact the product's software develo...

No, not really. Supreme Commander and Command & Conquer 3 were the big ones but they've just come out. I dare say there are others in the pipeline but I haven't been keeping track as much as I used to. You might still try and see if the folks behind Supreme Commander are interested though as the...

After some faffing around getting SDL to compile from source (the Mac OS X project is a bit out of date with regard to the head revision) I finally got a test version to meddle with. A great many thanks for your tip - I now get: lmop's version of sdl being used... SDL successfully initialized num_jo...

I had a play with my SpaceNavigator, SDL and the Mac OS X beta Framework but unfortunately I could not interface with the device. I've pretty much exhausted what I can do without some input from the friendly 3Dconnexion engineers :) I've detailed what I did (and how you can easily replicate it) at t...

Reboot required after installing drivers

I got my SpaceNavigator this weekend and was greatly concerned when it didn't appear to work. Then I remembered that drivers tend to need a reboot to register with the kernel properly. Fortunately that fixed things and I had an entertaining time playing around with Google SketchUp and other projects...

Please improve the "New posts" indicator icon

Could you change the "New posts" icon to something more noticable please? It's almost identical in tone to the "No new posts" icon which makes it harder to spot at a glance which forums have updated content. Anything that isn't predominantly white will do. Thanks.

System Preferences: mapping the spatial axes

Unless I'm missing something, the 3Dconnexion Mac OS X System Preferences utility does not allow me to map the SpaceNavigator spatial axes on to a macro or anything. This seems like a rather large oversight since that's the primary input method for the device. Without the ability to do such a mappin...

They stated that it was expensive to pay the programmers to spend time adding compatability for a device with "limited market penetration". Yes it is expensive to do it one device at a time but then 3Dconnexion's SDK drives all of their controllers so the market penetration is probably de...

Whilst the free version, which I have, its About SketchUp reads:

Code: Select all

Google SketchUp
SketchUp 6 (6.0.313)
which is what you previously stated you have. Have fun!

Thanks for the link but that's for Windows and doesn't address the cross-platform issue at all. The SDL library has the advantage that you only need to link to it once and your application runs everywhere (individual compiles withstanding). Now obviously developers could handle the cross-platform co...

Support request: Simple Direct Media Layer

To quote the SDL homepage : Simple DirectMedia Layer is a cross-platform multimedia library designed to provide low level access to audio, keyboard, mouse, joystick, 3D hardware via OpenGL, and 2D video framebuffer. It is used by MPEG playback software, emulators, and many popular games, including t...
