Thank you @maxon and @3dconnexion for finally solving this. There are still some bugs in C4D 2023.2.0 and the space mouse is lost sometimes, but we can use this. I am sure with time the glitches will disappear as well.

The last response I got from 3Dconnexion Management is that Maxon still has to remove the complete 3Dconnexion code/dialog from C4D within one of the next updates to allow the new system wide 3Dconnexion driver to work... Though this makes sense, I wonder how the team @ Maxon hast not been resolving...

We have repeatedly stated that 3Dconnexion and Maxon are actively collaborating to restore SpaceMouse support to Cinema 4D on M1 systems. It is work in progress. But we can agree that this is about a simple driver for a 3D Input device we are talking here for about a year now and not about engineer...

can you please give this topic an update from 3Dconnexion AND Maxon? Last week Cinema 4D 2023.0.1 was released and there is again no response on our space mice.The explicit 3Dconnexion dialog ist still included (see attached).

I can only agree that this is a major disappointment. M1 Macs have been released 10 November 2020 with possibilities for developers to adapt their software way before that. Well, of course, why not invest tens of thousands € to »downgrade« five seats just to make up for an unfinished driver... -- waiting for the next one to suggest switching to Windows...
