when you say "the entire MS SDK"

I have
Microsoft Platform SDK for Windows Server 2003 R2 is that what you mean.

I've done that, and it is still not clear how to modify the project file in the example to build correctly.

Jim,

So, if I understand correctly, on Windows I need to look into the HDI Raw Input API, and receive WM_INPUT messages instead of WM_MOUSEMOVE events, is that right?

I've never worked with anything other than WM_MOUSEMOVE, but there's always a first time!

sorry for the off-topic post (but not really)

I started a new topic titled: SpaceNavigator for Torque Game Engine but...if a MDOF controller driver standard existed, then it would "just work" and there would be no need to ask a question here.
