However, neither setting up a new account, or adding the fact that I'm a developer, to my old one, is functional, currently. What can be done?

This is the wrong approach. X11 is garbage; get the apps ported to Cocoa.

Definitely. It works with Blender 2.49. Additionally I have used it with great success in Maya before, but with 2012, no dice.

I've got the "3D Control" menu showing. But the SpaceNavigator doesn't do anything in Maya. What is to be done?

I got two SpaceNavigators sometime around mid-2008. I don't have proof of purchase for them. One of the cords on one of them snapped apart from normal wear and tear. I was just told on the phone that I can't get any sort of repair. Thanks a lot for using such a thin, crappy cord, and not just using ...

Also, the overall speed is much too slow, even with all possible settings at max.

Why is it that the SpaceNavigator works magnificently when the view is parallel with the grid, but not at all when pointed perpendicular to it?
