Hi eyeJ, this is a really strange problem! Is the Windows machine (you wrote that the LCD works there) the same as the Linux machine? If its a different machine is the SpacePilot connect in the same way on both machines (direct, via extension cable, via hub)? Is the kernel a custom built or the gene...

Hi dbramsen,

currently this is not possible, sorry.
We consider this as an enhancement in future versions. We track this internally as #4992. Please use this number for your reference.

Hello eyeJ, the script you're using is/was meant to solve an issue with RHEL3 (Kernel 2.4.x). You shouldn't need to use this on recent 2.6.x kernels and you also don't need to mess with your kernel modules :) Reading your post, you write that the LEDs are lit/working. In this case, the LCD should wo...

Hi dbramsen,

I'm glad to read that it now works! :D

GoogleEarth is not working, I'm sorry! Its simply not supported by Google. :(

We already approached Google with this issue and we encourage every user to also approach Google to request support for our devices!

Regards
Christian

Hi dbramsen, I'm sorry I forgot something: The containing directory "3DxWare" just has drwx------ (0600). It should be drwxr-xr-x (chmod 0655) so that normal users can access the directory with the config files (after being started 3dxsrv switches to the currently logged in user), which is normally ...

Hi dbramsen,

I think I found the reason. Its because of the file permission of the config files. Please change the file persmissions to -rw-r-----

Code: Select all

chmod 0640 /etc/3DxWare/*.scg
This should do the job.

Christian

Hello pyalot, the issue you describe with our devices is actually not a bug. Linux or better evdev handles our devices absolutely the way it should be. Our devices register themselves as relative devices. This has historical reasons and may change with future products from 3Dconnexion. Since the dev...

Ich habe ein paar Fragen an Dich: Wie lautet Dein Benutzername bzw. passiert der Fehler auch mit einem anderen Benutzer? Kannst Du das bitte testen. Poste bitte hier ...

Hello dbramsen, the driver can't find any configuration file in /etc/3DxWare. It needs at least default.scg and default_10.scg at this location. This is strange, because the installation should've copied all the .scg files there. I assume you're starting the driver as root user? Please do a ls -alR ...

Hello Gary, the SpaceBall 3000 is a fairly old device and is no longer supported. The support for 3000s stopped already many years ago! I'm sorry to tell you so! You may want to upgrade to a recent device like the SpaceExplorer. Regarding the message: Driver (ugen) successfully added to system but f...

Hi Dave, it sound like a Motif issue. It seems that on some distributions LessTif is installed instead of OpenMotif. LessTif sadly makes troubles. If its the case, that you have LessTif installed, please try to uninstall the files that come with this package an install OpenMotif. For example you can...

Hi spudnic, you can extract the RPM file without installing it and copy the files by hand to the appropriate location. Try this: mkdir mytempdir cd tempdir rpm2cpio 3DxMaya64-2008-1.2-10.x86_64.rpm | cpio -idmv You'll get a "./usr" directory where the files are in the same hierarchy as they'd normal...

Hi Hans, yes indeed those are independent values for translation (x/y/z) and rotation(x/y/z) not a composite rotation/translation value. I suppose you know that already, but for completeness: The values of course are not angles, but represent a velocity, a rate of change. The MagellanPeriod you can ...

Hello Hans, I've found two links, that you might find quite useful. Please have a look at: Transformations in 3D and Appendix G, Homogeneous Coordinates and Transformation Matrices Both describe all you need for translation, rotation, scaling and viewing in 3D. The latter link points to the online v...
