Re: Using SpaceNavigator with Arduino?

I have no idea.
Make sure you are not using a device that consumes too much power. Such as one that has an LCD.

Re: Using SpaceNavigator with Arduino?

There is a difference between some of the devices. Older devices (SpaceNavigator) have two motion packets. One for Rotations. Another for Translations. Newer devices combine those into one packet. The code was written for the two packet models. Print out what you get, at least the number of bytes in...

Re: A question about 3dxservice.exe

You make some good points.
There is no reason for it to be doing this particular work if there are no 3Dx devices attached. I'll add that to the enhancement request.

Your 3D mouse cfg files where deleted by a Windows OS update? That's the first time I've heard something like that.

Re: using 3d space mouse pro in milestone system (PTZ cctv cams)

It is possible that a 2D mouse emulation mode could do what you want, but there are better APIs to use. Windows has APIs for physical joysticks (like used in flight sim games). If the application has support for those, it is likely to work better. Please find out if the application has support for g...

Re: Using SpaceNavigator with Arduino?

It sends USB packets. There is a ReportID in the first byte, then data following that varies with the type of report.
You have to parse it.
You probably just want the motion packet (6DOF) and the buttons packet.
I've put some code on github you can start with.

Re: using 3d space mouse pro in milestone system (PTZ cctv cams)

Milestone Systems is in Munich? Maybe that's a sales office. Do you have a technical contact at Milestone? We need to find out if they support joysticks, and how to configure them. They may have a panel in their software to allow configuration. We have to make the driver send what they are expecting...

Re: Newbie custom XML help

If you are assigning a predefined macro, it is probably defined in the localization files. Macros may be language-(kb layout)-specific.
The default file is en-us.xml.

If you make a new macro in the GUI, it will be stored in your app-specific file in AppData.

Re: using 3d space mouse pro in milestone system (PTZ cctv cams)

PTZ cameras are an ideal application of the 3D mouse, IMO. The driver will probably need to be told the specifics about the software you are trying to control. Are you the software developer or an end-user? Do you know how the software is accessing the device? There are many options available--most ...

Re: Using SpaceNavigator with Arduino?

I forget what the serial monitor does, but the device does not send ASCII data, if that is what it is expecting.

Re: A question about 3dxservice.exe

Sorry, you are correct. What you see is it checking the running application at about 5Hz. This doesn't use much CPU time, but as you point out it is doing something else. It's always done this. Your example gives me a good reason to readdress it. I did experiment with a less intense approach many ye...

Re: Newbie custom XML help

We use the HID conventions. Rotations are about the translation axes. In HID convention, X&Y are like a 2D mouse (along the top of the desk). Z is the additional direction (up/down perpendicular to the table). Rx is rotatation like a motorcycle throttle (pitch). Ry is rotatation like opening a door ...

Re: Remote Desktop use of local Space Navigator

antonynealrobinson, The software does use Global. There are many ways of doing this assignment. I suggested Base.xml because, normally, these keys are not overridden anywhere, so the assignment will come from Base.xml. If they are overridden in Global, and that ButtonBank is in use, then they will c...

Re: Remote Desktop use of local Space Navigator

You need to restart 3DxService.exe if you change Base.xml. You don't need to reboot. These alternate Shift/Ctrl/etc options will not appear in the GUI. If you assign some other function to these keys, they will override your Base.xml assignments. It is possible to make them available in the GUI, but...
