From Ken: "Anything prior to version 11m3 has a bottle neck problem. It will crash if used with a USB device. The fix is to slow down the USB data rate." The bottleneck problem is a bug in I-DEAS that causes it to crash if it gets data too fast from the input device. I guess it was fixed i...

Hi gforrest, It is nearly impossible for your hand to move one axis without generating crosstalk along another axis. To eliminate crosstalk you have to use a filter of some sort. The driver provides a single-axis-at-a-time filter called "Dominant" in the App Configuration tab of the GUI. I...

Hi Mike,

Then there is only one more thing to try.

Edit the config file and change:

MACRO_MECHANISM = 0

to

MACRO_MECHANISM = 1

If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas.

You could have opened the 3DxWare GUI and turned all the axes on in either the Advanced Tab or the App Configuration tab. PanOnly and ZoomOnly are not toggles (good suggestion though). You can assign "Translations" to another button. It is a toggle.

Oops, sorry. I just read that you are on an x64 system. 3DxOffice doesn't work on x64. You can try one more thing. Your saved user config files should be saved under your %APPDATA% directory. Edit one of these, say the Combustion one, with wordpad (It has to be a Unicode-capable editor). Find the li...

Hi Mike, These other apps were supported because of our generic Windows plugin called [somewhat misleadingly] 3DxOffice. It provided not only support for Office apps, but other otherwise unsupported Windows apps. The easiest way to reestablish the use of your previous config files is to reinstall 3D...

Hi GMAN,

How does CATIA lock up? Does the 3DxWare driver consume all of the system CPU time?

Yes, the bug is in the beta. I just found the problem yesterday, and I released the beta to manufacturing last week. I'll fix it.

GE Launch panel? Not sure what you mean. GE does have some settings that effect 3Dx devices in Tools->Options->Navigation

Hi Jerry, Sorry. Was a bit of a Dilbert moment there--I'm an engineer, it's my job to bury you in useless info, yet not answer your question <G>. The GUI does not have any way of allowing you to swap axes in any arbitrary way. You should first try changing the Zoom direction in the Device Configurat...

AXIS MAPPING You can rearrange the motion axes of the device. The GUI does this when you switch the zoom direction or select Reverse All Axes. This mapping is controlled by a setting in the config file. You can map any axis to any direction you want, but we definitely suggest sticking with the optio...

For building the demos, make sure you are building the x86 solution target, not the x64 target. You can change compiler switches as necessary to get the solution to build with the version of the compiler you have. On your code, m_hWnd has to be initialized to the hwnd of the OpenGL window. This prob...

You can switch the direction of any axis by editing the config file used by the application. See which config file is being used by hovering over the 3Dx icon in the system try while the app is running. It will show the filename (e.g., user01.scg). Find this file either under the 3DxWare directory o...
