Using a SpaceNavigator as a mouse/trackball

Post by pg121 »

Has anyone developed a driver for the SpaceNavigator so it will function as a mouse? I'd not like moving my mouse all over the desk (especially when using multiple monitors) and I don't like trackballs. Why can't I have a SpaceMouse for my left hand and a SpaceNavigator for my right hand?

You can do this with 3DxWare 10 (in beta).

If you are a developer, yes, you can address each attached device separately. We have modified the puzzle demo to show how effective two-handed 3D interaction can be. In this case, one device controls the puzzle piece, the other controls the view, so you can see what you are doing. It is quite compelling.

If you are a user, you can configure two different types of devices separately, say, one as a 2D mouse and the other as a 3D mouse. They have to be two different types of devices (e.g., SpaceNavigator and SpaceMouse Pro).
