Cannot find 3DxMacWare driver on the website

Post by elvisjohndowson »

Hi,
The 3DxMacWare driver is not available from the download drivers section of the 3dconnexions website: http://www.3dconnexion.com/service/drivers.html

I am trying to compile the 3DxValuesCocoa Mac OS X sample application, but can't do so since I don't have the Mac OS X driver installed.

I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

Best regards,

Elvis

3DxMacWare driver on the website

Post by Bryan »

Dear elvisjohndowson,

I had no trouble downloading 3DxMacWare 1.5.8 (23.3 MB). When you say it is 'not available', what is it that you are experiencing?

Sincerely,
Bryan G.

Hi,
I select

Product: SpacePilotPro
Operating System: Mac OS X

and click on search and get the following error message:

Sorry there is no driver available for your selection!

Best regards,

Elvis Dowson

Hi,
Just found out that you can get the 3dxware drivers if you select the SpaceExplorer USB product.

I'm using the SpacePilot Pro, through, so will this be okay? You should really fix that link! :-)

Best regards,

Elvis

Dear elvisjohndowson,

That would be correct. The MacIntosch Platform only makes use of SpaceNavigators and the USB SpaceExplorer.

Bryan G.

Does that mean that I can't use the mac driver for the SpacePilot Pro?

I tried the driver, and ran the sample cocoa app from the sdk, and the test application is able to get the values from all six controller axes.

The buttons and the LCD display manager dont work. It would be good if you could modify it to atleast switch off the LCD display, until a LCD SDK for the Mac becomes available. I don't want to burn in and damage the LCD display with prolonged use.

Since the SpacePilot Pro is your flagship model, don't you think it makes sense to release a full SDK, including the LCD applet SDK for Mac OS X?

Expected use for non-designated driver is unknown.

Dear elvisjohndowson,

In the 3Dconnexion Control Panel in the Configuration Drop Down we have an item to disable your LED, but that is about as close as we get. The driver is not designed for use with a PRO, so there would no LCD interface. What your PRO might or might be able to make use of in a driver not designed for it, is un-known.

Sincerely,
Bryan g.

Hi Bryan,
I just tried this out. All functions relating to the 6 DOF and LED backlight work correctly. The buttons don't work. Just thought I'd let you know.
