Spaceball 4000FLX serial (via USB2serial converter), FC17

Post by arkanoid »

I succesfully installed 3dxsrv and was able to rotate a cube on Fedora17 x86_64.

I wasn't able, however, to attach as joystick or generic input (3dxsrv unloaded, for sure):

sudo jsattach --sball4 /dev/ttyUSB0
(spaceball beeps)
[sudo] password for ark:
This doesn't look like a Spaceball 4000 FLX.
jsattach: device initialization failed

sudo inputattach --spaceball /dev/ttyUSB0
(spaceball beeps)
*** stack smashing detected ***: inputattach terminated

Nor does xdriver seem to do anything useful to be recognized by generic X11 software.

Any hints? I want to use spaceball as generic poiniting device and as joystick, at least.
