OS X Driver for Space Traveler3

Post by ejames »

Are you planning on releasing a OSX driver for your Space Traveler 3 for Maya. If so when do you think it will be out?
Your SpaceNavigator driver does work with the Space Traveler in Maya but
for me the movement is jerky compared to moving around space with a mouse. I have a Mac Pro.

I need to know if I will have to return the Space Traveler I own and get something else.

Hello ejames:

On Mactel systems, Maya performance suffers due to the emulation. There is probably not much we can do about that at this time, but if something comes our way, we'll assuredly post on it.

Please see viewtopic.php?t=335 for your other questions.

Does anyone know if it works better with the new intel native Maya 8.5?

Apparently, Maya 8.5 is - at present - not supported at all. I have asked this five days ago because my SpaceNavigator runs only fine with Maya8 (PPC) - not with 8.5 (Intel): viewtopic.php?t=310

Here's a copy of the reply to the post on viewtopic.php?t=310

We've tested Maya 8.5 on a MacTel machine and it works very well. The sluggish performance seen with pre 8.5 versions of Maya is gone since it's now a universal binary.

In order for SpaceNavigator to work with Maya, please download and install the Maya MEL scripts from the drivers download page at www.3dconnexion.com. Instruction on how to install the scripts is on the download page.
