Not only that it is confirmed that original CADMouse USB does currently
not work with Big Sur. But if I get that right it was also confirmed that
the original CADMouse will never ever run with Big Sur.

Not quite right. If you look in the FAQ page you can see that we have enabled CadMouse Wireless support through a firmware update.

We don't know if we cannot support the original CadMouse. As the page mentions, currently it is not supported.

Sorry, the "original" (first) (USB) CADMouse was mentioned deprecated in original Beta Driver FAQs.
The thing I bought directly after release with my Enterpride+CADMouse+Mousepad Kit.

AFAIK
the CADMouse Wireless came much later, so far from "original CADMouse"
Yes, I see the wireless sibling is added to supported devices list.
But until now I only heard original USB CADMouse will not work and I understood
the discussions as it never will.

So if now there came a new possibility to also add support for oCADMouse by
Firmeware Update or other, the better.

I believe the term used was "unsupported". In the particular case of the original CadMouse, the buttons won't work with or without an installed.

The original CadMouse is a wired device (cable only) launched in 2015. The CadMouse Wireless was 3Dconnexion's wireless normal mouse and was launch two years later in 2017.

The CadMouse is currently not supported on macOS 11 "Big Sur". We don't know if we can enable support.

Refer to this post for our earlier statements on this matter:
ngomes wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 7:18 am But that isn't the case for the CadMouse (wired) and CadMouse Wireless (CMW). These aren't supported now and we just don't know if we can restore functionality in the new operating system version.

We did try to avoid dropping support for the original CadMouse, the CMW and CadMouse (any type) over Universal Receiver but we weren't able to do so before the release of macOS 11.

OK,
I think I got it now.

oCADMouse was not officially deprecated with Big Sur and following Apple OSs.
Just that it is currently not supported at this time.
But no quarantee that this will change ...
So let's hope.

That's exactly right.

We have working to enable support since we were aware a critical component (kernel extensions) was deprecated and likely unavailable in macOS 11. We relied on a kernel extension to work around what we believe is a limitation or bug in the operating system introduced in macOS 10.10. The deprecation of kernel extensions was announced by Apple during the WWDC in 2019.

Without a kernel extension, we could not support the original CadMouse and CadMouse Wireless at the launch of macOS 11 "Big Sur". We were also unable to use "system extensions" (DriverKit extensions or "dext"), Apple's replacement for kernel extensions.

Thanks @ngomes.

there were previous posts over the Mac sub forum that I misunderstood as
"we are working on a KEXT-less driver with Apple API and can support most
other devices, but especially not that original CADMouse"

My Enterprise and my original Space Navigator seem to work fine in the
3DConnexion Demos and a few of Apps, which is something different
and looks easier to solve opposed to my oCADMouse with Big Sur not even
able to recognize basic 3 button mouse clicks.

So let's hope o'CADMouse will work with the final driver again too.

Hi.
I tried this Beta Driver without any success. The only reaction was some movings of the cursor (via Bluetooth?).
There is obviously no connection to the dongle.
I would appreciate a very quick solution.
Thanks.

3Dconnexion has released firmware v. 1.11 for the CadMouse Wireless, restoring button functionality in macOS 11.

Refer to the FAQ page here and click on the "requires firmware version 1.11 or newer" link.

"3DxWareMac_v10-7-0_r3277" beta driver.
I can confirm full functionality and good performance with Autodesk Fusion 360 on Macbook Pro 16", MacOS Big Sur and the wired SpaceMouse Pro.
Thank you for a quick solution!
