Using SpaceMouse Pro on Vmware via iMac

Post by papagena »

I use a SpaceMouse Pro at work (medical imaging) where we use Windows. We can work from home via VMWare and a thinclient which works fine most of the time. I have my own iMac with VMWare installed but I can't get the SpaceMouse to work even though the drivers are installed in the virtual Windows environment. It seems to be a general issue with recognising USB devices because the same happens with my Jabra headset.

Any solutions?

You may have to forward your USB port, try VirtualHere to forward your USB port.

That might work, though it seems installing the Mac version of the driver is another issue. I can install the package but then I get a message some security setting (forgot which one exactly) must be set to "allow" only that button doesn't appear when I go to security on my Mac. (MacOS Big Sur).

You're using a version of the driver that will not work on macOS 11 and you may want to install the "beta" of v. 10.7.0 instead. Please refer to this topic.

OSX: VirtualHere Client for OSX 10.9.5 / 10.10 / 10.12 / 10.13 / 10.14 (partial) / (10.15+ not supported)

The newest MacOS 11 Big Sur is a bit new for various third-party ISVs and hardware OEMs, there's a delay for compatible driver update...
