New Driver?

Post by jesse.art »

I have a few issues with my WSMP on my Mac that seriously impact my workflow. To the point where I regret spending $400 on this thing.

1. Why is the driver for Big Sur still in Beta?
2. When can we expect a new driver that supports Big Sur with updates for Catalina.
3. Is this slow adaption to new macOS's typical of your developers?

Issues
1. My SMPW regularly seems to crash Maya when it works at all.
2. When it does work in Maya it will undoubtedly stop working at all at some point.
3. There is a "twitch" when navigating within Maya after moving the model that is disruptive.
4. When using it in ZBrush the SMPW will stop working for a few seconds before resuming. As if the driver crashed and restarted.
5. Sometimes my system will respond in a way where it seems the option key is being held down. There is a beeping tone sometimes, my browser window resizes on its own, I can't navigate properly within ZB, etc. until I unplug the SMPW from the usb cable and play it back in. At which the system functions as expected.

Honestly its amazing anyone on a Mac can use this thing. Especially in any kind of professional environment.

Please do more to not simply keep your drivers up to date appropriately but do so in a timely manner because you have professionals that depend on it.

Any ETA on a drive that works for Big Sur? Its been months. My M1 mac / space mouse is useless. Shift, control, escape, space -- none work.

3dconnexion claims their software as "certified for Zbrush on Mac." Is there something we don't know, or vice-versa?

Hmmh,

I am on Monterey Public Beta.
Seems that the new 3DCon Beta Driver made me lose again all keys working
since the firmware update arrived.
Like the side buttons of CADMouse stoped working in any App.
Or the Modifier Keys on Enterprise and Display Buttons don't work again.

Just my old original Space Navigator 2 Buttons still work like a charm.

And I really have taken care of allowing all (2) questions about allowing
3DCon editing Privacy Settings with password. And I can see 3DCon activated
there. (Beside Calendar access !? which I deactivated)
