SpaceExplorer with NX in Parallels in Mac OS X

Post by b.vanhoutte »

Hi,
Anybody experience with the spaceexplorer under parallels? I tried it with Win 7 in parallels on a Macbook Pro and everything seems ok but the spaceexplorer doesn't work. Connection ok, driver in os x ok, driver in win 7 ok, windows recognizes it, all seems fine. But when trying it in the "training" section of the 3dconnexion software, nothing reacts on movement of the spaceexplorer. In NX Unigraphics, the reason of using it, it doesn't work either.
Any ideas?

Thx,
Bart

SpaceExplorer with NX in Parallels in Mac OS X

Hello Bart -

Using Parallels is not supported so it is not an environment the SpaceExplorer is tested in - but there are reports it is being used successfully.

In general, make sure there is a standard USB mouse connected to your computer to initiate the installation of required Microsoft HID drivers. The following forum thread suggests configuring as a new USB device in Parallels.

You can check the installed demos to verify the SpaceExplorer is working in Windows [Start, All Programs, 3Dconnexion, Demos].
Once it is working in the demos, it should also be working in NX. NX has support for 3D devices inside the application so it only uses the basic device driver. The 3Dconnexion add-in - 3DxNX - provides button mapping but is not required for navigation.

Our devices conform to the HID-USB standards, so if you need additional information, Parallels technical support should be able to supply the steps needed for USB devices to communicate with their software.
