We thought this was sorted since the discussion was on the launch of the 3DconnexionHelper and 3DxNLServer programs.

By "bricked" we assumed you mean the device is completely unresponsive but that's all that we have on that. Perhaps you can give us some context of what was happening when the device stopped responding. It is possible, although unlikely, that the device has simply stopped responding or perhaps the firmware update failed halfway through.

CadMouse buttons not clicking is to be expected on OS X 10.10 and newer under certain conditions (no installed driver or if using driver 10.7.0 or newer) if the device still has firmware v. 1.05 or older.

You will need to update to firmware v. 1.06 to resolve the "no clicking" issue. Please refer to this FAQ article.
My understanding is that updating the firmware to a higher number would break compatibility with macOS 10.15.7 Catalina.
Firmware v. 1.06 improves compatibility with 10.15. What you may be recalling is the compatibility with old drivers.

The driver updated with the following error:

Device 1 firmware update completed.
All devices updated successfully.
FSPathMakeRef(/Library/PreferencePanes/3Dconnexion.prefPane/Contents/Resources/3DconnexionHelper.app) failed with error -43.

The mouse seems fully functional / programmable with the exception that the 3DxWare 10 Tools tab still says "No Device Found".

The tool probably failed to restart the driver. If your CadMouse is now clicking, please reboot the system and check if the driver can find it.

After restarting, 3DxWare 10 Tools tab shows "CadMouse Firmware 1.06". However, after restarting, I still had to unplug the wired Cadmouse from my external monitor, and plug it back in again. Is that because I'm still on Catalina? Has that been fixed in Big Sur or Monterey?

Why did you have to unplug the CadMouse and plug it back in?

Do you also need re-plug the CadMouse if connected directly to a USB port on the computer (assuming the machine has a USB-A port, that is)?

Interesting.

Similar issues here, using Spacemouse Pro wireless & latest driver release 10.7.0 (3411)

Archicad user, so upgraded to latest release to solve single instance problem (can confirm this is now solved). However, under Monterey (12.1), 3DxWare consistently reports ‘No Device Found’ after starting, restarting or waking from sleep. The only way I can get the system to see the device is to unplug & then re-insert the receiver once Monterey is operational. It is then recognised & the device works correctly until re-starting or waking from sleep.

With previous driver releases & receiver plugged directly into either the MacBook or CalDigit Thunderbolt dock, the device would be found on starting/restart/wake from sleep & operate correctly (apart from Archicad issue).

With current release & receiver plugged into dock, 3DxWare fails to see the device, even after un-plugging & re-inserting the receiver. It will now only work following the process detailed above, when directly plugged into the MacBook (using USB A to USB C adaptor).

‘3DconnexionHelper’ agent visible in Activity Monitor.
‘3dconnexion.helper.plist’ is missing from ‘/Library/LaunchAgents/‘ but is showing in ‘/Library/Preferences’

Uninstalled & re-installed a number of times…results as described.

Any guidance or advice on how to resolve, would be much appreciated.

It's been that way for years... my understanding from a past call with 3DC tech support is that I wouldn't have to unplug it if it's connected directly to the computer. However, that was long before Big Sur and 3DxWare 10.7.0, and a fix was being worked on at the time. For context, I do not have to unplug my CadMouse Pro Wireless when it's plugged into the external monitor, so it's clearly a limitation of the wired CadMouse for some reason.

My wired CadMouse is like a bionic extension of my arm, and nothing--not even the CadMouse Pro Wireless when it's in wired mode--feels as buttery smooth and precise and my OG Cadmouse. That's why the CadMouse Pro Wireless lives in my backpack for onsite work only.

Hi Gomes, I've send you the crash reports and hope you find something. For me to get my 3dspacemouse working I need to manually start the "3DxNLServer" and then relaunch my browser. After doing is the driver is stable. Hope you can fix this soon and have a 100% stable 10.7.1 driver :-)!
