Enterprise display always stays on?

Post by herp »

Long time SpaceNavigator user, just upgraded to an Enterprise. Im on a Mac, driver 10.7.4 and firmware 4.41

Does the display ALWAYS stay on? 24h per day? Seems like at the very least this would lead to some burn in or premature wear. An ambient light sensor or hardware switch would have been a nice inclusion.

Any way to turn it off when the computer goes to sleep? Or easily toggle when not needed?

Does anyone have an answer or suggestion for this? I found this topic in the Windows section of the forum but the last three posts seem to be discussing MacOS. @jwick seems to have a good suggestion; but, unfortunately, I do not see how you can assign a driver function to a key.

Mac M1Max, Ventura 13.2.1
3DxMacCore version 1.2.4.307(307)
3DxWare version 10.7.4(3493)
SpaceMouse Enterprise Firmware 4.42

Had these problems in the past.
But currently my Enterprise is connected to the (unused) Windows11 PC.
Because of on Mac Enterprise display do not show nice icons on Mac ....
On the Mac I only have the old original Space Navigator attached.

I always fear that it would not work again at all with any new Mac Driver update.
And it neverless looks like it is working in less and less Apps over time anyway ...
But honestly I do not really use it.

3D/CAD App's support for 3DConnexion devices is usually pretty fast decreasing
after initial providing demo devices and some support (Vectorworks !?)

I just can state, that for me, now even on Ventura,
the blinding blue LED of my original Space Navigator stays reliably OFF.

Also on the Windows PC with later drivers,
there are not so much problems anymore when booting into diverse Linux
Distributions that Enterprise Display goes on and won't shut down in sleep or
even after shutting down.
