3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
In recent weeks (possibly after a Windows update) I can no longer launch the 3D Connexion Properties, either from the system tray nor from the spacemouse button, nor by explicitly trying to launch C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\3DxWinCore\3DxSmartUi.exe . I found an article in FAQ about AV Guard that is similar ( https://3dconnexion.com/uk/support/faq/ ... esnt-open/ ). I do not use AV Guard. I use Windows Defender, if that matters.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
Reinstall it.
Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
I should have mentioned that I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling. Same issue.

Hi Shawn,
It's unlikely that you need to reinstall your operating system...
Trend Micro products are another common conflict.
Were there no error message?
I'd start by deleting your saved user files in %appdata%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare. You can save them somewhere else if you want to keep them. If they are old files that need to be updated, I can help you with that.

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. I stopped the 3dxware driver, made copy of folder, deleted it from that path, restarted driver... still unable to start the settings.
There is no Trend Microsystems product on my system.

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
Shift+RMB over the 3Dx systray icon you will see a Run Diagnostics option in the popup menu. Please select that, run it (collect information...), and PM a link to that file (dropbox or whatnot) to me.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
Thank you. I've sent a link to the zip on One Drive.
Note that the 3Dconnexion Diagnostic Tool always has a notice at top that say "The log file is not enabled" and has a button labeled "Enable logging". When I click it, it doesn't seem to do anything except make the notice "The log file is not enabled" go away. But when re-launching the diagnostic tool, that notice returns.

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
We think you might have some permission issues.
Can you turn on logging using the 3Dx systray icon?
You have 10 crash dumps from 3DxSmartUI.exe in your 3DxDiag file, but they don't contain heap info.
Could you please enable full memory dumps by making/changing this registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps] "DumpType"=dword:00000002
Then try to run 3DxSmartUI again. Collect the 3DxDiag file. And send it to us.
Thank you.

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
There is no entry in the LocalDumps for DumpType unless I go down a level to the specific applications. I don't see an entry for any 3D Connexion software.
Should I add an entire entry? What should the name be?
See this image for what I see in the registry:

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
Create a REG_DWORD named DumpTypes with a value of 2 right there.
See here
It wouldn't hurt to be under a 3DxSmartUI.exe Key.

Thank you. I sent you a link with the new dumps with logging. Thanks in advance!

Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
Jumping on to mention that I am experiencing the same bug. The properties UI will launch, but then disappear after a second or so. I'll enable logging and send off my info.
Re: 3DConnexion Properties Won't Launch
I updated to the latest version of 3DxWare (as of this posting).
