The recent v10-7-1 release cannot find Photoshop

Post by Guy_III »

I don't know how to say this. The 3DConnexion hardware engineers are among the best. It isn't obvious the 3DConnexion software engineers have passed their GED. Somewhere in the past half dozen years or so they ran off the track.

Since they fell off the track the updates never run to completion.
The new routine is:

right click on 3DxWare file
7-zip "Extract Here"
right click on "3DxWare64.exe"
7-Zep "Extract to 3DxWare64\"

Batch file:
===================
cls
msiexec /i %1.msi /l*v .\%1.log
===================
where %1 is the name of the msi file.

If the module fails, examine the log file for the offending error.
Wade through the registry to delete the offending registry engry.

Repeat the batch install.

Now the software engineers have a new one!

Recent photoshop installations aren't in their database. "Warning 1608. Could not find any compliant products on the machine for installing the product."

In earlier episodes I tried calling the help desk. That was a waste of time.

Amazing!

Hi Guy_III,

Here's what one of the ignorant software engineers can say.

You're using version 10.6.5 of 3DxWare 10 or older.

In version 10.6.6 and newer (since April 2020), we switched to a new installer engine precisely to address the increasing number of reports of issues with component installations. As customers update to newer versions of 3DxWare 10, old installation problems are showing up.

You're also using 7-zip to unpack the software and run individual installer for separate components. We're glad that you're enjoying one of our architectural requirements for the installer. The feature you found to work for you (easy access to MSI components and modularity of add-in, application and driver software installation) was originally mandated by the engineers, not product management.

You can still extract the photoshop plug-in *.msi installer from the 3DxWare v10.7.1, see screenshot below:

So is there not a way to fix this? Photoshop 2021 has been out for a couple months now.
