latest Driver broken with latest Windows Update ?

Post by zoomer »

I have removed my Enterprise from Windows PC
and added my old original Space Navigator.

Latest Driver release notes says Space Navigator supported.

When I open the Driver Settings in Windows it says no Application selected.
I only have access to "More", "About", Update > no update availabe ....

Space Navigator does not work in any App.
I can't set anything in Driver Settings, like activate LED or such things.

Looks like the driver cannot find the device. Is your SpaceNavigator listed in the Device Manager panel, under the "Human Interface Devices" category? It should show up as "3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator". If it isn't there, try a different USB port and see if the system finds the device.

The device wasn't found in device manager.
Only a strange "3DConnexion KMJ Emulator" with a driver from 2011 ?

I had it plugged in in my Dell Monitor USB Hub.
Plugging out and back in did not work.
Tried at a simple 4-port USB, did not work.
Tried motherboards cheapest USB 2 keyboard/mouse USB socket.
That worked !

Tried at a simple 4-port USB again, did not work.

Plugged it into my Dell Monitor USB Hub, other socket, again.
That worked !

Plugged it into my Dell Monitor USB Hub, initial socket, again.
That worked now too !?

Overall it seems to work normally now.
The only thing I miss in driver is the option to switch the LED ring on/off.

I don't know what the problem with 3DNav and USB+Hub is.

Maybe there was a bad last Win10 update.
I left the PC alone, it may have fallen to sleep.
Went back hours later and Monitor was dead and I wasn't even able to
show or enter BIOS. Unplugging and re-cabling everything USB and Monitor
finally and fortunately brought my PC and Monitor back ....
Did another Bios update, another Win Update ...

Nevertheless,
original Space Navigator works again on that non-powere 4port USB HUB as
it didin recent years. It has some hick ups now though, from time to time.

The LEDs can be switched off in the popup menu of the 3Dconnexion icon in the system tray (right click).
