I have no idea. I assume if you unplug the SME, it goes away.
Don't you have other 3D mice? Any issues with them?

There are no unusual (e.g., emulated) axes on the SME. It's a very clean HID device. The only thing non-trivial about it, is that it contains groups of buttons, with breaks in the numbering. This is standard HID stuff.

It might be time to ask the FS group what they are doing.

Yep, input is released when SME is unplugged. Do still have my SpacePilot and a Navigator so interesting to see the effects of those.

Many thanks.

Eventually got around to trying this...

Unboxed my SPPro and plugged it in instead of the SME - works perfectly, no stray inputs, can allocate binds just by scanning and pressing as intended.
Plug the SME in and back to button 12 input always on.

Uninstalled 3DxWare and rebooted. Back into FS2020, both devices are still seen, still same behaviour. SME has constant button "12" input, SPPro is fine.

Do you have a stuck button 12?

3DxTest shows no continuous input, buttons seem to work as expected.

I don't know what button "12" is - it's not the soft key 12 button it's just what FS2020 identifies as button '12' in the first bank of 32 buttons. May have to switch it out for the SPPro for this use... :?

It's more than likely a misinterpretation of a button or axis on FS's part.
It could indicate something inconsistent with one of our device descriptor. I'd be interested in finding out if that was the case.
Possibly there is a configuration file for FS2020 that determines where they get their inputs from.
It may not be a 6D axis or a button. There may be other report descriptors, e.g., something to do with the LCD.
I also see (in my generic news feed) that Microsoft is quick fixing a lot of changes to their game tools lately.

Hey @Space Man,
could you find out why button 12 in MSFS2020 was always pressed and did you find a workaround?
I have the same problem with button 197 :?

@ jwick:
3DxTest works without any irregularities.
