Win10 "Error: Could not locate installed 3Dconnexion device."
Running 64bit Windows 10.
I've downloaded the latest driver 10.7.2
I've uninstalled/reinstalled.
I have the wired space navigator), which has been discontinued, but according to this page, it should use the current software.
https://3dconnexion.com/us/support/faq/ ... d-devices/
I get blue led light when plugged in, but when I try to run the software I get this error:
https://imgur.com/a/CNRRsQ0
Error: Could not locate an installed 3Dconnexion device.
Please install you motion controller driver software before proceeding.
I also tried the steps here;

I'm on my 6th reboot, 3rd installation, nothing seems to be working...
Please help!!!

What program are you trying to run that produces this message?

It doesn't even bother to work in ANY application. I only find their error after launching the 3Dconnexion Home, and then opening the Trainer. When I try the Viewer or the Demo, it opens-but the puck doesn't do anything (lights still on though). The settings app doesn't even open (although I swore it did before). The system tray icon is only there for a moment, then disappears.

Looks like the driver is dying as soon as it starts.jabbakahut wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 7:02 am The system tray icon is only there for a moment, then disappears.
If you can, please open Task Manager, go to Details and sort the processes by name. Can you "3DxService.exe" near the top of the list?
If not, go to Start menu > 3Dconnexion and click "Start 3DxWare": check that "3DxService.exe" is shown on the Task Manager panel. It should stay running.

Yes, it's always been in the task manager when I've checked (I killed it in there once during one of the install attempts to rename that app data folder with the .bat extension).

Upon looking more closely, the running process is 3DxNIServer (32 bit)....
I don't know if that Server part means anything, but I would have thought it should be 64bit since that is what I installed.

Sorry for the multiple replies, I don't know how to edit messages that I've already submitted but are awaiting moderation.
I tried to start the 3DxWare as you suggested, it shows up on the task manager for a moment then disappears, while the other process I mentioned continues to run. I tried killed the task first, then starting the new one-3Dconnexion shows up for a moment, then the Server process appears and the other one stops.
This seems like a complex series of events to describe, sorry if it doesn't make sense.

You should have a %appdata%\3dconnexion\3dxware\cfg\Global.xml.
If you do, add this LogLevel line to it in the Settings section:
This will cause the driver to write a full log file. It might contain some information about why it is crashing.
The log file is at: %localappdata%\3Dconnexion\3dxware\3dxservice.log
I'd like to see that file (PM a link to it to me).
If you don't have a Global.xml, let me know and I'll have you make it manually.

Thanks for the assistance, but you lost me at global.xml, not sure what that is.
