Unreal Engine 4.26.2/4.27/5.00 EA2 Assertion fail Driver 10.8.2

Post by peterbowenpm »

Hello

While I am waiting for my support request to be answered thought I would just post this issue to see if anyone else is having the same problem.

Did a full clean up and re install of the new 10.8.2 driver.
Did a manual install for Unreal Engine 4.27 and 5.00 EA2 as per the driver read me file.

When I open a new project as soon as I move my Spacemouse Enterprise wheel or make selection changes in the 3Dconnexion control panel Unreal Engine closes and I get this crash report:

Assertion failed: false [File:C:/Users/jenkins/Desktop/home/workspace/3DxUnreal-trunk/build/staging/4.26/3Dconnexion/TDxUnrealEditor/HostProject/Plugins/TDxUnrealEditor/Source/TDxUnrealEditor/Private/TDxUnrealDevice.cpp] [Line: 401]

I understand that an assertion fail is generated by the program because some condition was violated, and the program explicitly is checking for this condition.

Same issue with each version of UE I have installed.

Anyway just checking if anyone else is having this issue. UE 4.26.2 was working fine with the previous driver 10.7.4.

Hi peterbowenpm,

Can you please provide some log files to our team within your open case in order to share it with our development and see why this is happening.
Did you select a unique view such as perspective, top, bottom etc. or it just crash rightaway?

I've created a TS issue within our system and awaiting for some feedback from our development.

In my case as soon as I touch the Knob Unreal crashes instantly , this happened in Versions 4.26 and 4.27 . This is what I get

Assertion failed: false [File:C:/Users/jenkins/Desktop/home/workspace/3DxUnreal-trunk/build/staging/4.26/3Dconnexion/TDxUnrealEditor/HostProject/Plugins/TDxUnrealEditor/Source/TDxUnrealEditor/Private/TDxUnrealDevice.cpp] [Line: 401]

Hope this helps identify the problem. It would be beyond awesome to have it working in Unreal. Here is the CrashReport, CrashContext, etc..in the zip file attached

Hi Chrome,

Thanks for the updates. I will create a case and send it for our development, will reach out if there's anything needed.

I understand that an assertion fail is generated by the program because some condition was violated, and the program explicitly is checking for this condition.
That's exactly what is happening. The plugin is tripping on a condition that we believe to be illogical.

We can't see this in-house. Could you please indicate how we can reproduce the crash using a new project? Any details that you can provide will be appreciated.

Looks like another customer has reported this very same issue here. The problem may be with "Film" or "Cinematics" projects.
