Hi chris032188,

You can install driver 10.6.4 from our Archive and that should work with the SpaceExplorer
Here's the link for our archive https://3dconnexion.com/us/archived-dri ... ws-7-64bit

I have tried this driver and older ones with no luck. I even tried removing the files from app data local / roaming file and the registry and redoing it.

Invest in a new SpaceMouse model like SpaceMouse Wireless to work with the latest 3DxWare driver for Windows 10. That's the only way to go if you don't know how to develop hardware driver on Windows OS.

Pretty ridiculous s that a $300 + item isn't supported by an operating system that was out when it came out. My ten year old gaming mouse still has perfect functionality. Makes me not want to invest on a company that clearly treats high priced items as throw-aways.

I suppose you already recouped the investment on the SpaceExplorer model?
The driver support for SpaceExplorer ranged from year 2006 to year 2020, it's 14 years. Can you name another computer peripheral company that can offer 14 years of driver support for a single model?

By the way, I'm an end user like you, not in any way affiliated with 3Dconnexion company or its reseller(s).

The SpaceExplorer USB was in full support until May of 2016, ten years since its launch back in 2006.

According to the FAQ here, version 10.6.4 should still work with the SpaceExplorer USB. This version was released in Dec 2019 and supports Windows 10.

Perhaps you could give us some details about what is happening. What application you are trying to use it with. Etc.
We might be able to help you get it working.

It is true that if you go back far enough, you will have to delete your "newer" saved user cfg files. But it sounds like you have already done that.

Let's start with your Device Manager. Is your device listed with the official name under Human Interface Devices in the Device Manager?

I already have a compact, I initially installed that, but wanted to use the space explorer. So I deleted the driver for compact, thekcal files and also registry. Tried reinstalling the 10.6 driver and older ones. The mouse isn't recognized, and when I bring up the 3dconnexion program it still shows the compact (which wasn't hooked up to computer or anything)

Let's start with your Device Manager. Is your device listed with the official name (3Dconnexion SpaceExplorer(?)) under Human Interface Devices in the Device Manager?
It's generally safe to delete files under %appdata%\3Dconnexion, %localappdata%\3Dconnexion and even %programfiles%\3dconnexion.

What did you delete in the registry?

Is this just a typo?
