Spacemouse Pro as media jogger?

Post by ULTRA »

Can this be used to move around while audio/video editing? I'd like to control my frame with more accuracy than a mouse while also having some similarity to video play. I would like to either go slow motion or faster than normal video depending on the strength I twist the knob. In both forward or reverse. Is this possible?

Not possible now. However your idea is brilliant, this should be considered a major future feature if 3Dconnexion want a market share as a video editing software peripheral/device if they managed to strike a technology cooperation with some popular video editing software vendor(s).

It's dependent on the audio/video software.
If it accepts keyboard keys to jog, then the driver can output those.

Otherwise, there are often plugin possibilities.

There are third party solutions that are very flexible converting input from devices to specialized usages.

I'd be very interested in more detail on how to do this.
The range of what's possible.
Which 3rd party software does these kinda conversions.
I'm considering a new control surface.
New drivers don't support customising my old spacemouse.

I just got mine and discovered you can't assign buttons easily to the mouse, only to the buttons. I want to use this in Media player and VLC player as well as video editing but absolutely bummed the only way seems to be through some (not yet found the documentation to) xml file editing. Any pointers are much appreciated!
