Windows 11 issues

Post by karolami »

Hi, I own SpaceMouse Wireless and SpaceMouse Pro Wireless. I installed on Windows 11 drivers without any problems (the most current) and I am able to use SpaceMouse with Blender and the default 3Dconnexion program. However, at my work, I am using programs for visualization such as VMD or PyMol and with those programs or 3D Viewer (in Win11) I have issues that I am not able to solve. I checked several things. SpaceMouse is working on Windows 10 with the most current drivers and the same VMD version. In such a way, the only difference I can see is Windows 11. I was trying to run the 3Dconnexion Home program with other Compatibility (Windows 8 was available) but that made any difference. Maybe someone had a similar problem and was able to solve it. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Windows

In conda environment or PyMOL command line:
pip install pywinusb spacenavigator
As for VMD, going through the VMD online documentation, there's no such mention of 3Dconnexion 6-DoF SpaceMouse hardware:

Maybe you can send an email to VMD support people at NIH Center for Macromolecular Modeling & Bioinformatics:

And then you may request the support of 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse by directing them to visit here:

"pip install pywinusb spacenavigator"
leads me to believe that application is not using our drivers.

The drivers they are using may need to be updated for the new operating system, and/or for the new devices.
This is the primary reason we recommend using our drivers.

Start Menu doesn't work on my computer.
With Windows 11, the Start Menu has been moved to the middle of the Taskbar. This makes sense both aesthetically and pragmatically for most users. Also, it feels fresh and smoother than the old Start Menu on Windows 10. I restarted my computer to fix them but it is impossible.

Hi jwick,
I already did that "pip install pywinusb spacenavigator" before writing here. That didn't help. The spacemouse still can only zoom in and out in the VMD program. I am waiting for some Win 11 updates. Maybe that will fix the problem.
