SolidWorks - Dynamic Highlight turning off

Post by dpihlaja »

I had an issue with Dynamic Highlight remaining unchecked.

Here is what I did to fix the problem:

The issue was this:

“Dynamic Highlight from Graphics view” under “System Options” -> “Display/Selection” in SolidWorks 2014 kept “unchecking” whenever the 3d mouse (Space Explorer USB) was manipulated AND I switched between any windows inside SolidWorks at the same time.

I would then have to manually go back and “recheck” “Dynamic Highlight from Graphics view”.

The System specs that I was using:
Windows 7 64 bit
SolidWorks 2014 64 bit SP 3.0
SpaceExplorer USB (found out that this is a discontinued 3d mouse and is no longer supported by the latest drivers....see below)
3DxWare 10 for Windows 64-bit Version 10.2.0

What I did to fix the issue:

Tested the issue on another machine with the same specifications and achieved the same result.

Followed the steps to modify the registry key "DisableHighlightOnOption" outlined here: https://forum.solidworks.com/message/220948#220948
This did not work.

Uninstalled 3DxWAre driver version 10.2.0 and installed 3DxWare driver version 10.1.4.
This did not resolve the problem.

Uninstalled 3DxWare driver version 10.1.4 and installed 3DxSoftware version 3.18.0.
This did not work until I “checked” “Disable “Dynamic highlighting” on 3D mouse motion” under the “Advanced” tab under “3Dcontrol Properties” in the “3Dcontrol” drop down menu inside SolidWorks.

Once I “checked” that box, the problem went away.
