Sidefx Houdini and Newtek Lightwave Support?

Post by nutman »

Hi,

I have owned a SpaceTraveller for a little more than a year and I got myself a SpacePilot for christmas
I use these tools ever so hapilly with Maya and 3DS Max.

But...

I am using Houdini and Lightwave as well.
I would recommend both 3D controllers to some coleagues but they use Lightwave or Houdini only.
So there, we're a bunch of people who need a plugin for these two apps.

Should I contact customer care as well to let them know there's demand or is this post enough?
Please, pretty please do something for this and I feel like I've lost a limb when moving from maya or max to the other apps and I can't use my controller with them :(

Thanks

Hello nutman:

What we'll do is contact Newtek and SideFX and try to work with them to adopt support within the application. If you could also send them a note, it would certainly help us out.

I have some contacts within Newtek Europe and I could chat up to somebody at SideFX (now that I am a paying customer and not using the free version I suppose my oppinion counts a bit more)

Both companies are well known for caring immensely for their customers so they are more than likely to hear my plea :)

By the way, have a look at this:

Second from the top you can find an old plugin for lightwave that gives partial functionality with SpaceTraveller and SpacePilot.
Works with the most recent version of Lightwave so maybe you could work on that.

Lightwave support

Post by voomer »

hi.

I just bought a Space Explorer and find its not working with lightwave. That plugin is quite old and have some bugs and crash with 9.3.Anyway it doesnt working with the modeler. I tested the Space Explorer in XSI and Maya so it would be really great if we(lw users) can get a support very soon...

That is great news. I hope it'll get off the ground, because I'm also a Houdini user and being able to use it together with the SpaceNavigator - that I purchased recently - would be more than great!

Is there any progress so far? If not, could we be notified if there's any in the future?

Thanks in advance.

More software supported will mean more, and more satisfied, customers and an even bigger market, including more potential buyers. That can't be a bad thing for 3Dconnexion.

Here too! I also like to give my voice for this.
Why there is still no support?
