USB hub incompatible

Post by eholmes »

This issue needs to be clearly stated on the packaging. This device can't operate on any type of USB hub, for reasons I cannot understand.

I have tried the following things:

1) Purchased a powered hub (spacepilot should only consume 100mA)
2) Tried dedicated USB 2.0 KVM switch
3) Support states simply "can't do it" when I ask
4) Well perhaps so, but WHY ??? What is the defective link here?

If you have any ideas, please advise.

Hi eholmes,
This device can't operate on any type of USB hub,
This is not correct. The SpacePilot -- and all 3D mice from 3Dconnexion -- do operate on both powered and non-powered hubs. That is a specification of the USB architecture.

What the help line representative meant is that 3Dconnexion does not provide support for configurations using hubs. This is because the quality of these devices varies. 3Dconnexion does not recommend the use of hubs.
