Maya 2008 problems with Spacenavigator

I am getting an error message saying that Maya can't find the process or something in the bottom. I checked the install manually and everything is where it should be. The space navigator works in Sketchup, PS, Google Earth, 3DS Max, etc..., but not in Maya. I just discovered that if I run the Magellansetup script the navigator will work, but the right button to bring up the 3dconnexion menu wont work and the window can't be accessed through the tray either. I am new to Maya so maybe it is something in Maya I have to fix. Thanks!
