plusminus and alt codes

Post by EmilioS »

I do want to use the alt codes for special characters.
But with my new keyboard from 3DConnexion, I can not access these codes anymore,
How can I get there?

You need to have the Numpad Pro (NPP) device paired to your Keyboard Pro (KBP). You cannot enter alt codes if the NPP is connected over Bluetooth.

Hold down the left Alt key and enter the code. For example, "Alt+0128" will output the Euro sign (€).

If the above does not work, ensure you have the latest firmware for your KBP and NPP devices. The driver will notify if a firmware update required but you can also check 3Dconnexion Settings (connect the NPP to the computer using a cable).

If you cannot get the above to work, contact our Technical Support team.

On US layout keyboard, the right Alt key can also be used.

About the Bluetooth limitation: the system requires that the Alt key being held down is in the same device as the numpad used to enter the four-digit code. When the NPP is paired to the keyboard, the system "sees" the keyboard and numpad as single device.

Over Bluetooth, the system identifies the numpad as a separate keyboard and does not allow alt codes to be entered. Same happens when using two physical keyboards or the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) tool.

plusminus and alt codes

Post by EmilioS »

Thank you for your reply.
This Numpad is getting very annoying.

I do not get the pairing between keyboard and numpad working.
I can pair the numpad with Bluetooth at the PC.

So what do I have to do to successfully pair the numpad to the keyboard?

Latest drivers and updates are installed.

You will need to unpair the Numpad from Bluetooth.

If the device is already paired to Bluetooth, it will ignore the keyboard pairing. If you are sure the Numpad is not paired to Bluetooth, then try a few times to pair it to the keyboard (if nothing happens after entering the six-digit code, go back and try again with a different code).

Thank you, but it doesn't work.

The NumPad is paired to the keyboard (there is a little sign where one can see the pairing.
No possibility to use ALT+ ASCII codes.

When going to settings there is stated: update available, going then to 'about' : software up-to-date!
It is a mess.

When Caps Lock is activated on the keyboard , it isn't after restarting the desktop, everytime having to go to settings again.
Also a mess.

I want to return the stuff, but support hardly reacts.

Hi EmilioS

Please click the sign 'Firmware Update available" under device selector in the 3Dconnexion window. You should receive a window with information to connect your NPP with PC by the cable in order to upgrade FW of the device.

The information "Software is up-to-date" reffers to the version of the 3Dconnexion driver not the firmware version of the device.

No window or option visible when NumPad attached with USB C cable to PC.

Where and how can I update the NumPad?

In that case, the Numpad is probably already updated to the latest firmware version.

With the NPP connected by a cable, open the "About" panel in the 3Dconnexion Settings program and check what is the reported firmware version. Currently, the latest Numpad Pro firmware version is 2.03.

Hi,

Support said that I had to detach the Bluetooth dongle from 3D connexion.
ALT+codes still don't work
When plugging numPad with cable and see the about, Firmware update available is stated
But I cannot Update, the button is greyed out.
What do I do wrong?

Hello,

First I would suggest disconnecting the NPP from UR (Universal receiver), Keybaord and BT (you can forget the NPP on your PC).
After that connect it by the cable only and check if there is any Firmware update available. If there is any, please perform the update.
After that disconnect the cable and pair it via BT with your PC.

Thank you,

I have done all you suggested: indeed no firmware update necessary.

The two problems persist.

1. ALT+ASCII codes not available in any configuration: because there is no NUM-LOCK ???
2. When CAPS LOCK is disabled in settings, then at startup of PC, the CAPS LOCK is not disabled, only after entering the 3DConnexion settings.
3. Insert key doesn't do anything, not disabled

Please help, the SUPPORT doesn't do anything that helps

Even if you paird it to Keyboard? Remember first unpair it from BT before pairing with KBP.
