Hey so will the Space Navigator PE work with AutoCAD 2009?
I installed this space navigator PE on my machine today, I downloaded the latest software from the website when I opened the box. v3-6-7
I run windows xp sp3
Autocad 2009
Raster Desing for autocad 2009
and Eagle point 2007, which is ported through autocad 2009
I was never able to get the toolbar to appear in autocad, until I added the CUI file into autocad manually.
I was able to get the space navigator to work briefly once I added everything into the program manually, but once I closed the program, and re-opened it, all was lost. I couldn't remember what I did.
I grew frustrated, and completely uninstalled everything, including the usb keys from the registry.
re-installed, and still nothing in autocad.
Am I doing something wrong?
or does the PE edition not work with autocad.

So I have the toolbar loading now when-ever I start the program, but none of the buttons work. I have tried to put the .arx file into several directories in autocad, but none of them seem to load the commands into autocad. The space navigator still doesn't work for me in autocad. It does work in google earth and my photo viewer though.

Ok so I got it to work with acad 2009 when I open acad from the program files dir. I copied this executable file to my quick task bar on my computer, and it works there now too. How-ever when I load a drawing by clicking on the drawing, the space navigator does not work, it also doesn't work if I open the drawing with eagle point which automatically opens autocad. I remapped the acad file that I knew opened up with a working space navigator to both windows and eagle point, but still no luck. I May be able to work with it like this, but it would be easier if it worked with eagle point when I opened it up. Same with the drawing files... I often locate the drawing file on the server and click on it so it opens autocad...

We tried to follow your instructions to see if it was possible to reproduce the problem but, on our systems, AutoCAD 2009 works well with the SN.
If you can, please give us a step-by-step procedure so that we can try to recreate the scenario.
We also suggest that you remove all Autodesk and 3Dconnexion software to make clean installations of the software. The 3Dconnexion software should be installed after AutoCAD.

Breakdown
Ok so here is my situation. I have remnants of Autocad 2006, Autocad 2008 Map, and AutoCAD 2009 installed on this computer. Autocad MAP 2008 and AutoCAD 2009 both still work. I only use 2009, just havn't uninstalled 2008 or 2006 yet. I also use raster design 2009, but I have raster design 2008, and 2006 installed as well. Further more, I run Eagle Point which uses AutoCAD 2009 as its graphical interface.
When I open a drawing from windows, by double clicking on it, it opens with Autocad dwg launcher, or Autocad component (the programs in my "open with" dialog box). When I open a drawing with eagle point, it opens it with the autocad 2009 exe file. Neither one of these methods allows me to use the space navigator, the commands don't seem to load because the toolbar loads, but autocad doesn't recognize the commands.
When I open the autocad exe file from the autocad dir in program files (and hence my desktop and task bar now) I can use the space navigator, the toolbar is in the same position at the bottom of my screen, but now the commands are understood.
What I did. I installed the latest software from the internet, and when that failed to work, I uninstalled it, and removed the usb keys, then re-installed it again. I also then took the files "3dxautocad.arx", "3dxautocad.chm", "3dxautocad.cui", and "3dxautocad.mnr" files from the space navigator and placed them into every autocad 2009 dir I could find where it looked like it would make sense. So if there was a .arx file, or a .cui file in that dir I put these files into autocad. I also placed these files into the autocad 2009 raster design directories as well. I did this into the directories located in the "applicatation data" and the "local settings" folders for my profile, and the all users profiles in windows as well.
Once I did this, I noticed that the space navigator was working in autocad like I said above, but it may have been working like this all along, because I usually only open autocad with eagle point, or by clicking on a drawing.
