SpaceNavigator Edgecam

Post by jaal »

Hello everyone!

I work in IT-support and one of our customers use these 3d mice to view 3d models during simulation of production.

To anonymize i will call the involved users User1 and User2.

User1 has a SpaceNavigator USB (3DX-600028)
User2 has a SpaceNavigator NB USB (3DX-600036)

For these simulations they use EdgeCam and its simulation. When User2 moves around using the SpaceNavigator it pauses the simulation so all moving parts stops moving. Now User1 wants the same feature. User2 insits that they got it to work on his SpaceNavigator by downgrading the drivers. Ive tried both newest and a older versions of driver for User1 without success. Is this the matter of hardware or is there some hidden settings that can enable this?

May there be a setting in the mouse or in the program itself that User2 is not aware of?

Thank you in advance!

This looks like something Edgecam is doing, not the device or the driver.

You may want to reach out to the vendor, Hexagon.

Thank you! That is what i was thinking aswell but User2 insisted it was the driver and no settings in the program was changed. I will look into it with the vendor.

User2 may be correct. The application may have a different behaviour depending on the device model (it shouldn't).

3Dconnexion has a partner programme to support application vendors. They can get in touch with us, if necessary.

What's the version number of the tested EdgeCAM software?

Ask Hexagon's EdgeCAM support for the 3DxWare SDK version they implemented. Some of the software acquired by Hexagon haven't updated the 3DxWare SDK in years, to name a new, many of the MSC CAE software haven't updated the 3DxWare SDK integration in more than a decade. The EdgeCAM is developed by UK's Planit, then it was acquired by Hexagon, this is may be the case, you have to request the EdgeCAM developers at Hexagon to update the 3DxWare SDK implementation to better support the SpaceNavigator or even the latest SpaceMouse series.

Typo, it's 'to name a few'.
