I just took delivery of my wireless SpaceMouse, and I love it. It's my second 3DC product, having bought an early SpaceMouse in maybe 2010. I've wanted another one for years, but was unwilling to buy anything that still relied on usb-A for connectivity. I figure if a company cannot drop old legacy connectors for the defacto industry standard, they're not paying attention to the market. I mean, most Macs haven't had a usb-A port since 2016! But then I looked at the new wireless model, and saw that not only was it using standard Bluetooth LE (maybe the wireless ones were always BLE?) for communications, but it had a usb-c port for charging, I was pleasantly surprised, and ordered one instantly.
Again, let me just say how much I love this thing. But, really: the charging cable is usb-A to usb-c. THAT goes straight into my e-waste bin! And the dumb little usb-A Bluetooth dongle? That too. Luckily, I won't need either of those stupid accessories to use my Space Mouse.
USB-A is almost THIRTY YEARS OLD! Come on, 3DConnexion, it's time to let go of a tired old standard, one that is slow, needlessly bulky, and requires most people to turn the thing around a couple times until they can get it to fit. Go through the rest of your lineup, and do the updating you could have done eight years ago!
usb-c already!

Hello, hope you are doing well.
It’s great to hear how much you love your new wireless SpaceMouse! It’s definitely a step forward with Bluetooth LE and USB-C charging, which feels more in line with modern tech. I completely agree with your frustration about the inclusion of a USB-A charging cable and dongle it feels outdated, especially when most devices have moved on to USB-C. Hopefully, 3DConnexion will take note and make USB-C the standard for all their products in the future. Thanks for sharing your experience!
