Does SpaceMouse work with Sketchup Free (Web) version

Post by KatAdair »

I am trying to get the SpaceMouse (wireless) to work with the free, web-based version of SketchUp. I have not found a way to do this, and even went into the Settings and tried to map the 3D Mouse settings to Safari to make it work with SketchUp Free.

It did do something really weird...I think it confused the settings for Safari/SketchUp Free with my SketchUp Pro settings...I can't open settings anymore in the Mac Settings (formerly Preferences). My SketchUp Pro was not giving me the full 3D experience...moving the cursor forward and backward would only pan up, down, and side-to-side. I had to uninstall the driver and reinstall to get it back. I also tried swapping out the dongle (I now own six of them), but it showed the SpaceMouse was installed and wouldn't let me install a second dongle. I'm still not sure whether the computer recognizes the mouse or the dongle (on a Mac with bluetooth, and it doesn't show up in the bluetooth preferences).

I have not tried this on Chrome because I prefer Safari.

I just purchased a SpaceMouse and CADMouse, and both of them work well in SketchUp free. I have not yet explored trying to set up buttons/macros, but navigation with the space mouse works brilliantly.

Did you purchase one? Do you love it?

See my previous reply. I too use a MacBook Pro (13” M1), and installed it the free version like an app, so that works through Safari. I have used it with that (Safari), as well as in Firefox.
