Space Pilot not loading on startup

Post by cadmaster »

I am using an old Space Pilot (P40K9206) in Win11, but it does not load on startup - if I unplug/plug the USB it fires up. What should I do to make it load whenever I start the PC.

Downgrade the Windows operating system to Windows 10.
Otherwise, upgrade the hardware, i.e. upgrade SpacePilot Pro to SpaceMouse Pro or Enterprise.

My Spacemouse enterprise also does this after I wake my computer up from sleep mode. The space mouse is only a few years old and has the latest driver? Is this normal?

If you really want to do it, here's the way:

Right click "This PC">Manage>Computer Management (local)>Device Manager>Human Interface Devices>3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Enterprise, right click "3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Enterprise"> Properties>Power Management, check if the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is ticked, if it's ticked, tick off.

Press keyboard windows logo button and R button at the same time, input "powercfg.cpl", hit "Enter" button, go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options,
click "Change plan settings" of current power plan, click "Change advanced power settings",
go to USB settings>USB selective suspend setting>Setting, change "Enable" to "Disable". Click "Apply", then click "OK".
go to PCI Express>Link State Power Management>Setting, change to "Off".

On the left window, click "Choose what the power button does"> click "Change setting that are currently unavailable">tick off "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".

Right click "This PC">Manage>Computer Management (local)>System Tools>Device Manage>Universal Serial Bus controllers>right click each "USB Root Hub" and "Generic USB Hub">Properties>Power Management, tick off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Those settings make sure that the USB port always power on the USB device, it's like turn off the system sleep mode. If that's what you really want.
