Configure zoom and pan settings

All,
I just started using a SpacePilot with Solidworks 09...love it but am frustrated with the zoom/pan settings. I would like to use the up/down motion to zoom in and out while retaining the spin/pan/tilt settings of the away/toward zoom setting. When I change the zoom from away/toward to up/down, the spin/pan/tilt setting also change; ie, the spin motion switches with the roll motion. Is there any way to configure these motions individually?
