Button Mapping

I've just upgraded? to the new SPP. I'm using GibbsCAM and I mapped all my buttons. Everything seemed fine as I worked with the new button settings for about 15min. I got up and walked away for a couple minutes and boom! the settings were all back to the defaults. I thought I was crazy so I set them again and this time waited and watched the LCD. In a couple of minutes I watch all the buttons revert back to the original setting. WTF! So I reinstalled the software (using the newest of course) and I'm still seeing the same results. Any takers?

Which version of GibbsCAM ?

There was a SpacePilot Pro button mapping issue in GibbsCAM 2010 that has been resolved by an update.TheGibbsCAM 2010 v9.5.16 Update List shows that Version 9.5.2 resolved an issue in GibbsCAM that caused incorrect function mapping to the SpacePilot Pro.

If your GibbsCAM version is not one affected by the button mapping issue,
you can use the clean install steps to resolve any data corruption issues that could interfere with button mapping saving correctly.Re-installing the software without these additional steps allows button mappings and settings to remain intact, so would not resolve a problem with a corrupted profile.

Since GibbsCAM is an application that provides internal support for 3Dconenxion devices, their technical support works with issues using our devices in their application.

Hi Barbara, thanks for the reply. I am currently on GibbsCAM 2010 v9.5.19 64bit. I did a clean install and it seemed to work. I saved my custom button assignment as GibbsCustom1 and had no problems until I opened a second instance of Gibbs and then all the buttons reverted back to the default again. The only solution I can think of is not allowing the SPP to automatically save. But then every time I switch programs I'll get the save dialog. And I switch allot. What do you think?

Well, turning off the auto save seems to work the best. The save dialog does not pop up every time I switch so that's good. I only briefly checked this solution so I'll get back and reply again in a few days to give an update.

OK, that didn't take long. It seems to always find a way to revert back to the default values. So where can I go from here. Is it a Gibbs problem or a 3DCONNEXION problem?

Since the support for the SpacePilotPRO is something GibbsCAM has programmed into their application, if it is not behaving correctly it is something they would need to work with.

When you open a second instance of the application, can you select your saved GibbsCAM profile from the drop-down list in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel?
