I'm using a SpaceExplorer with UG NX 7.5 on a 32 bit Win XP pro pc, 3DxWare release 3.12.3. I have assigned the 'snap view' command to the 'R' button. All goes well for a while, when suddenly the 'R' button does not respond any more. When I look at the button mapping editor (in NX), the field for the 'R' key is blank, and the list of available commands in the 3DxWare command category is completely blank to.
The snap view command is not listed in one of the normal menu's of NX, so I can't select it anywhere else. The shortcut key for snap view is 'F8', which keeps working, so if there is a way to link a 'F8' keystroke to the 'R' button, my problem would be solved (if there is no proper way to fix this).
Restarting NX, or even closing NX, restarting 3DxWare and starting NX is no sure way to 'fix' it. Sometimes it helps, more often it does not.
I've got a feeling it has something to do with using snap view when I'm looking at a section view of the model, but this is not reproducible, so I'm not sure.
So if anybody has hints to fix this in a proper way, or to assign a 'F8' keystroke to the 'R' button, please let me know.

The problem may be a corrupted NX profile.
You can remove profiles using 3Dconnexion Control Panel– Options- Delete Saved Configurations.You will see a list of your profiles listed as ApplicationName | Environment |login name. To remove the profile - close NX , stop the driver ,delete the profile, restart the driver, re-open NX.You will need to re-map buttons for that profile as it will return to default settings but if it was the source of the problem, your button mapping will return to correct behavior.
You can assign the F8 key so that it will be added to the list of commands that can be mapped in the NX editor. That may not be a solution here, though, since the function is added to the 3Dxware category. You can add F8 in the CustomFunctions editor on the Button Mapping tab in the 3DxControlPanel.The name you assign to it will be added to the 3Dxware category available in the NX editor. You can find screenshots of this in the manual under 3Dconnexion properties - Button Configuration.
If removing the profile does not clear up the issue, you can use the Clean Install steps to remove all 3Dconnexion software including 3Dconnexion registry keys and custom profiles - then do a fresh installation of the software.
