3DS Max Install and plugins in general

Post by bringfire »

Hello,

I am probably missing the most obvious thing a new user would be in search of...the "How To" or FAQ page that explains exactly how to get the Space Pilot working with the various pieces of software that it supports...so....

HOW DO I GET MY 3D MOUSE TO BE RECOGNIZED IN 3DS MAX...AND WHERE IS THE WEBPAGE (or, THE WEBPAGES) THAT EXPLAIN THIS FOR MAYA, RHINO..ETC..ETC...

A little frustrated...sorry :?

When you installed the driver did you have the applications open?
Make sure there closed before installing the driver otherwise the add-ins will not install correctly.
Please reinstall driver
The application should detect the addin and run when you open Max, and Maya.

To locate help files:
Start, All programs, 3dconnexion,Documentation, Manuals,
Choose English manual
Select Supported Applications
Choose Autodesk 3ds Max, or Maya.

Most applications are Natively supported in the application they donot require an addin.
If the devie is not recognized in Rhino contact the vendor of Rhino i beleive they have an add-in on there site that will allow use of our device.

If you install 3DS Max after installing the drivers you either have to reinstall per Fred's suggestion or just copy 3DxStudio.ms from the appropriate folder to Max's Script Startup folder and 3dxstd.dlu to the Plugins folder. Find them in Program Files folder on your OS drive and look for 3DxStudio64 (for 64 bit app) or similar for 32 bit.
