Moving selected Objects in Solid works Assembly

Post by Jonas Forster »

Hi,

While I can move selected parts around and turn them, I can't seem to be able to push or pull them forwards and backwards like in the demos. What could be causing this issue?

I'm using Solid Works 2011, with the latest 3DConnexion drivers.

Regards

Open the 3dconnexion popup menu make sure that Pan /zoom is checked.

The 3Dconnexion Pop-Up Menu for SolidWorks allows you to easily access frequently used 3D Mouse functions and settings. It can be opened with the Menu/Panel Button (SpaceNavigator family: left button) on your 3D Mouse.

Pan/Zoom is checked. I am able to pan (move selected object horizontally & vertically), just zoom (move forwards & backwards) doesnt work. Zoom works when looking at the Assembly., however not when moving a Part in the Assembly.

I have the same problem. zoom/pan & rotate all enabled, speed o.k. I can pan/zoom/rotate the view in an assembly, but moving a part by itself i cannot zoom. I have the most recent drivers (6.15.13) and firmware version 4.31.
I would be much obliged if there is a solution.

Hi,

Please refer to this post.

Do notice the caveat: the option is undocumented and may be unavailable in future revisions of the sotware. Also note that it is very difficult to precieve movement of a part along the viewing direction. The recommendation is to rotate the view 90deg and then displace the part or sub-assembly along a direction that is now paralell to the display (and much easier to see where it is going).
