My initial impressions with the Space Navigator & Google Sketchup were good, I liked the device and all was well.
Now we are using Autodesk products and the Space Navigator has created major trauma, in summary:
1)Windows 7, 64 bit
2)Sketchup installed and ok
3)Space Navigator installed and ok with Sketchup
4)Autodesk MEP suite 2013 installed and Revit works with Space Navigator OK
BUT it frequently (but not always) blocks Autocad programs from starting. It seems that if a 3DConnection process called 3dxsrv.exe is running then there is a good chance that opening an Autocad document will stall. This effectively renders Autocad unusable.
To avoid being caught out with this I disabled the auto start of 3dxsrv.exe at user startup and indeed it does not start. The thing is it somehow starts itself when autocad starts and then blocks it. The only way to stop this behavior is to physically disconnect it.
How can I guarantee that the Space Navigator will not interfere with Audocad?
It is critical that this product does not block use of autocad, especially considering that those that use it can not be expected to any particular knowledge of a PC other than how to drive their program of choice, ie autocad.

3dxsrv.exe launches our driver. This needs to be running before you open up most applications.
Some applications will auto launch our driver if it is not running.
Autocad Supports our device natively in the application since 2011.
It appears you have installed your application to be run as administrator.
If this is the case you can either uncheck run as admin for the application or you can launch our driver to be run the same.
Locate the 3dxsrv.exe right click choose properties, select the compatibility tab at the bottom choose run as administrator
Select save
Close then relaunch our driver and open Autocad.
Another thing to check is make sure you dont have our 2007-2010 autocad addin loading.
Go to programs and feature choose
3Dconnexion
choose change
Modify
uncheck the autocad addin.
