Upgraded from 10.2.6 to 10.2.9 and only have issues

Post by pball »

I just upgraded from 10.2.6 to 10.2.9 and now my buttons don't do what they were set to do before. When I went to change the button option I noticed there is no longer a Home View option when in Inventor. Why would an option be removed in a new version?

The second issue I noticed is the buttons have the same function no matter what I'm doing. On the previous version when I was in a model or drawing I could set the buttons to do different functions.

Is there a download for the 10.2.6 driver available. I should of learned by now to never upgrade drivers for this product (and keep backup driver installs).

Guess you can't edit posts here so here's an update. I managed to get the link for the old driver, thanks browser history and people not removing files from web servers. Then I had to do a full uninstall and delete the appdata folders and registry entries and then install the old driver. After that it worked as it used to.

Why does it seem like every new driver removes something?

Hi pball,

the driver usually doesn't change configurations. I assume that your user specific settings were broken. As you now deleted the settings in the APPDATA folder they are removed. I assume that you now shouldn't have this problem if you update to the latest driver.

If anything broke my configurations it would have been during the upgrade. I had zero issues up until I upgraded the driver. I'm also going to hold off on upgrading as I don't want to risk having to spend the time to downgrade drivers again.

Also just in case it wasn't clear in my first post. I was unable to setup the 3D mouse buttons to work the same way they did before. There were two things I couldn't setup the same. The first was the "Home View" and many other button options did not exist under the Inventor specific options. The second issue was the driver no longer detected when Inventor was in an assembly/part/drawing/etc, so it was not possible to set different buttons for different areas of Inventor.

The attached picture shows the items that the upgraded driver did not have for me.

Hello pball,

the above means that the plugin for Inventor (3DxInventor) hasn't been installed or loaded. Maybe you could have fixed the problem by just repairing the installation?

You can verify in Inventor if the add-in is loaded by opening a file and selecting the Add-Ins button found on the Environments tab in the ribbon. In the first tab "Applications" you see the available add-ins listed. The second column there says if the add-in is loaded and it is recommended to be loaded automatically.

I didn't check that but if the plugin was not loaded would the 3D mouse driver of recognized Inventor at and give some Inventor specific options for buttons. I know for a fact the driver said Inventor was the active program and listed Inventor specific options for the buttons.

If I get some time I'll back up everything and try upgrading again to see what happens.

In the driver version 10.2.6 it is definitely possible. Here are screen shots of the settings when I was in two different Inventor files and the about info.
