View buttons work some times

Post by Mike Rock »

My new Space Explorer is great. But.... in Solidworks the view buttons, TLRF work some times and not at others. Sometimes only one view will work, like right now only the L works. The view buttons are not even addressed in the setup or help files.

What am I screwing up?

Hi Mike Rock

What release of 3DxSoftware do you use? And which version of SolidWorks?

Did you try other applications as well? Did you notice the same problems?

The software is 3DxWare V. 6.0.16
Firmware 3.17 Space Explorer

Solidworks 2007 Premium SP2.2

I have been working this afternoon and using various SW files.
Sometimes I can get all four views, the next time only Left and Front.

Hi Mike Rock,

You have a very old version. If you can, do upgrade to the latest available.

You can find the software for your 3D mouse in the download parge.

The site for download is v3-3-6. and I have v6.0.16. Is the v3 the newer one? I am confused.

Well, this is just cool. I spend five hours on a dialup downloading v3-3-6 and go to use it. I get the error message that this is NOT a valid Win32 application.

So we go into Properties and select 'run in compatibility mode' and try to change it to run with XP. That is not an option. It only goes from Win95 to Win 2000.

Now what?

Success

I downloaded (yep, five more hours) the ENTIRE update. I wondered why it was only 39Mb the first time. It turns out I had 'help' with the computer. Someone went and got her email and didn't think it would hurt to turn off the little box.

Now the Space Explorer works like a champ!!

Thank you for your help, very much.

Hi Mike Rock

I would like to clarify one item, which leads very often to confusions. The name of the software package written for 3Dconnexion devices is 3DxSoftware. And that is what ngomes means. The newest release is the v3.3.6 currently available for download. This software package contains the driver which is called 3DxWare. The driver release available in 3DxSoftware v3.3.6 is the 6.3.3.
