CATIA V5 R16 - Invert spacepilot movement

Post by reflexdb »

Hi all. Is there anyway to invert the spacepilot movement of the y axis? I see no option for it in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel, but it would make my using it much more enjoyable.

Hi reflexdb,

There is a "Reversed" check box for each axis on the "Advanced Settings" tab of the Control Panel.

In the SpacePilot control panel that I have, there is no "Advanced Settings" tab.

I can click "Motion Settings"

From there I can click "Advanced"

But here, there is no "Reversed" check boxes.

Sorry, I took a screenshot, but have nowhere to host the file.

That sounds like a very old driver. You may want to download the latest.

SpacePilot & Catia R16

Post by CAD Guy »

I just wanted to expand on this topic. We are in the process of upgrading from Windows2000 to XP. My station is still on 2000 while another was just upgraded to XP. Both have the Spacepilot device but my pc is the only one that gets the Spacepilot Control Panel. The XP station gets the old narrow 'Button Customization" panel. We downloaded the latest driver from the 3DConnexion site but it did not help. This 'narrow' old style window does not allow this user the ability to create any custom Catia commands. The part I cannnot figure out is when the panel button is pressed in a program like Word or Excel, the correct Control Panel appears. What do I need to do to correct this issue?

We are running Catia V5 R16 sp05 HotFix 20

Hi CAD Guy,

I think your problem is a separate issue.

Open the SpacePilot "Control Panel" (3DxWare panel) and ensure that selected configuration is "CATIA." That configuration has the correct settings for you to use the "Button Customization" panel in the application.
If you prefer to always open the driver "Control Panel" when pressing the "panel" button, then you need to change the default assignment to the "open driver panel" command (not sure exactly what the command title is).

Thanks for the feedback. What if I cannot get this updated Control Panel to display when Catia is the active program? This Control Panel will only display outside of Catia.

Update: I checked the panel button settings and they are set for 3DxWare Panel. Also, this was not an issue prior to the XP upgrade.

Hi CAD Guy,

Stepping back a wee bit here.

There are two panels: one belongs to the application and it is titled "Button Configuration." This is a part of CATIA, not the 3D mouse driver. You can map any available CATIA command to any re-programmable device button.

The other panel is the driver "Control Panel" and controls the driver settings (which can be made depend on which application has the focus).

When CATIA has the keyboard focus (has the foreground / is the active application), then can access the driver control panel from:
  • the Windows Control Panel;
  • from the Start Menu (Programs, 3Dconnexion, 3Dconnexion 3DxWare)

Hi please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

I have Maxon Cinema 4D Lite R16 from the free version given in After Affects CC. I am wanting to connect my wireless space mouse but it isn't working. I have installed the latest driver but still no luck. Any ideas? i saw on other forums where to enable but it only showed up to R14 and every version seems to move the location. Can anyone please help me???

Hi Joey123,

I don't know if Cinema4D Lite has any limitations concerning the support of the 3D mouse. It should not be necessary to enable the support for the 3D mouse. You can verify in C4D -> Tools -> 3Dconnexion if the 3D Mouse is "enabled".

Have you verified if the 3D mouse is working correctly? For example with the Viewer from the 3Dconnexion Home dialog?
