Has anybody implemented SpaceNavigatorSupport in VTK or OpenGL/GLUT or OpenGL ?
I simply donÄ't even know where to begin...

Implementing support for 3D mice in the frameworks you referenced is not different for any other application.
I suggest you start by learning about developing for 3D mice in our SDK page. You will see there are more than one option (API) available you. The decision of which to use will depend on how your application is design (if it is a Windows application with a message pump, an app that has DirectX, for example).
