Sometimes I can't rotate my model, during a command. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is very annoying.
Example: I activate the measure distance command, from then on I cannot rotate the model, until I've picked the first surface. After this I can keep picking and rotating without problem.
Another example: during placing of constraints, I cannot rotate at all, until I finish or terminate the command.
As said, it doesn't happen all the time and closing and restarting Inventor solves the issue (at least temporarily).

Hi guido66
Did you have the same problems in Inventor 11? (I suppose you upgraded from Inventor 11.)

inventor 2008: spacepilot not working during active command
Hi guido66
I tried to reproduce your issue. I have used the following configuration:
HP xw4300 Workstation
Pentium 4 CPU 3.40 GHz
3,5 GB RAM
Windows XP Professional (32 bit) Service Pack2
3DxSoftware Release Version 3-4-2, Driver Version: 6-4-4, Firmware Version 3.12 - SpacePilot
Inventor Professional 2008, Build 254, Release 2008 - Date: Fri 03/23/2007
I started the "Measure Distance" command - I could rotate and I selected an object - I still could rotate, I selected the second element - the rotation worked as well.
I tried to place constraints - the rotation has worked as well.
The only difference what I see is that I haven't the SP1 for Inventor installed yet.
As the navigation is an Autodesk implementation, please ask Autodesk to check this issue.

Hi,
Just ran into the same problem again. Restarting Inventor definetely solves the problem temporarily.
I'm using XP 32 bit, with both inventor 11sp3 en 2008sp1. The problem only occurs in 2008sp1, and also in 2008 before I installed sp1, but never in 11sp3.
the 3DxWareversion is 6.0.18, firmware version 3.12
Inventor Simulation 2008, build 284 Fri 07/06/2007

Update Wizard
Hi guido
Please download the 3DxSoftware from our download page as the update wizard has another role: it will let the 3DxSoftware recognize new installed applications.
