Hello stevenhaggerty,

That is no longer an option in the 3DxWare GUI. The capability is still there though if you want to do some work. The beeps are controlled by a registry setting:
HKCU/software/3dconnexion/3dxware/Disable Beeps (a REG_SZ value)
Set this to 1 to disable the beeps. Set to 0 to have the beeps.
This can be done with two .reg files.
The driver has to be restarted after making this change.

This is unfortunate since I work in an administrator controled environment which doesn't allow me to alter the registry. What can be done to put this feature back in?

You'd have to talk to 3Dx product marketing / your 3Dx sales folks.

Constant beeping with Spaceball 5000 software

Post by stevenhaggerty »

The other issue I have is that the SPaceball 5000 beeps as each application windows that it supports is activated. This means quite a few beeps during the day is this the intended operation? Previous software the Hardware beeped only during logon or logout of windows.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

I believe the beeping is by design. It's quite annoying. I'd turn them off permanently or cut the wire <G>. None of the devices designed in the last 9 years have had beepers. I don't see how they are useful, especially since, it seems, all of our new devices have LEDs. The LEDs are a better way to see if the device is "on".
