SpaceNavigator not working after macOS high sierra reinstall

Post by mpaulsen »

Having trouble with 3D mouse after reinstalling system. I'm running the High Sierra beta, and the 3D mouse was working on High Sierra before I reinstalled the system (same version of OS before and after reinstall). The 3D mouse moves the cursor around in Finder, but doesn't have any 3D functionality. Tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling software with no luck. Any ideas?

I had the same issue, try these steps:

- install the driver
- go to System Preferences / Security & Privacy
- click the lock icon and enter your password
- allow the extension that was blocked
- go to System Preferences
- option + right click the 3Dconnexion icon, choose to remove it
- reboot
- reinstall driver
- reboot
- should work now

Good luck!

hey,

I just got my cad mouse, but I can only navigate and can't do any clicks. I think its most likely the same problem but the difference is, I cannot allow any extensions. If I clock on "allow" in Preferences, it dosen't do a sh***. any idea that to do?

Hello zenzbert,

our drivers do not support Beta versions of operating systems. Mac OS X High Sierra is still in a beta and 3DxWareMac 10.4.4 does not support this version. See here for more information.

Hi.

It is absolutely incredible, that already a week after the final appearance of OS High Sierra for mac, the driver for this operating system is not yet finished.

You can not imagine the damage that may come to assume for some companies that we had to update the OS for one reason or another, and now we are absolutely stopped for not being able to use the SpaceNavigator.

I hope they finish the driver soon or we will simply have to abandon and install some other similar device for our workers.

A greeting.

Hello madeharo,

we have released a new driver for Mac a few days ago. See here.

Note that Apple has introduced "a new feature" in High Sierra that requires user approval before loading third-party kernel extensions. This affects our driver as well. Please read this article before installing the driver.

That does not solve the problem, however the procedure with reinstaling, granting promition and uninstaling, and the reinstal does the trik, i got it up and running after a few very sad spend hours

Hello UtaSH,

I've read your answer regarding kernel extensions in the macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 but when I install the latest drivers for mac 10.5.1 it doesn't give me any feedback in the Security and Privacy tab in Preferences. I've been using the Space Navigator with Rhino 5 for Mac with no troubles in El Capitan but after upgrading to High Sierra the latest 3DXware driver is not working.
Could you be more specific with the correct instalation?
Would be much appreciated!

All the best!

Hello,
If I'm having trouble getting to work Space Navigator in Rhino 5 for Mac on High Sierra 10.13.3 is it better to contact the developers from McNeel Rhino or could you help me figure out what's the problem.
I have the space navigator and the CAD mouse installed with the latest drivers on Mac and in Rhino 5.The buttons for the SN are working but the controller cap isn't.
Thank you !

Hello kissiosif000 ,

have you allowed the 3Dconnexion kernel extension in your system? See here how to do that.
