Spacepilot Display Brightness

I installed the latest driver for my Space Pilot on my 64bit Windows XP computer yesterday.

It seems to me that the display brightness is dimmer than it used to be. Unfortunately, I don't know what version my previous driver was, but it was older than the 3.2.2 that is posted in the archived drivers on the driver download page.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing, or has a change been made?

I have had the same problem when I installed the latest drivers on Thursday evening. I called Tech Support and they could not resolve this issue. I was wondering if I was the only one experiencing this, after I uninstalled the 3.5.5 and reinstalled 3.4.2, the problem went away and space pilot screen was as bright as it used to be.

Now if you as how can a driver affect the brightness of the LCD screen, I have no idea. I am also experiencing some extra pixels showing around the numbers after continuous use of the device. Stopping and restarting the control panel redraws the border and numbers on the screen again, and the problem goes away. I think the driver needs to redraw the borders every now and then to solve this problem, not like, let's say when you change environments in Inventor, but when you go from one application to another, the screen should be redrawn completely. Are you seeing these extra pixels too?

I am not seeing the extra pixels.

The screen brightness appears about the same to me between 3.4.2 and 3.5.5... but maybe I'm seeing things.

Also, how serious is the change? Is it so dark you can barely see the text? Does it help you change to "white background"?

With respect to the brightness, no, it's not so dark that you can't see, and switching to the white backround works, but I don't particularily care for it. It seems like the brightness of the display is knocked down a couple of notches... that's all.

Is this brightness problem an issue specific to some serial numbers manufactured, or is it a general and something that is observed on on spacepilots?

Hi ahmetunal,

Only SpacePilot have an LCD module. We're interested in the serial numbers precisely to learn if it is an issue with a particular batch.
